The English Speaking Association of Rhodes is a constant presence in our island. Also this winter made us a visit to the “Throne of Helios” and we have to admit that we all are very honoured. It is our priveledge that all those people that are living in Rhodes came and saw our movie about the history of Rhodes.
We are very happy to have them here and we are looking forward to see them again.
“The outing on the 5th February to Throne of Helios 9D in Rhodes town was a great success. We look forward to other events at this venue in the forthcoming months. Please check our Facebook page The English Speaking Association and this website for futher information and details.”
Within minutes of being strapped in, I was dropped from a great height, thrown about by an earthquake, hurled against the bow of a boat, submerged in the ocean, fired at with cannonballs, kicked, battered, flung about, speared by a Roman soldier and almost swallowed by a hissing serpent.
I was rained on, snowed on, whipped about by wind, surrounded by smoke from raging fires.
The sound of roaring storms and the violence of battle echoed in my ears. I smelled the scents, odours and fragrances of centuries of myth and history – all from the “comfort” of my high-tech, computerised seat.
Throne of Helios is something else – a thrilling “9D cinema experience” in Rhodes Town that takes you back through the facts, fun and fiction of Rhodes island (throneofhelios.com).
It was just one of the many highlights of a fascinating Greek island-hopping cruise aboard the good ship Celestyal Odyssey. And it certainly set the pace for a full-on, four-day, whizz-around holiday. Especially as we were proudly told by the captain that we were travelling on one of the fastest cruise vessels in the world.
